Hong Kong discards approximately 3,200 metric tons of food waste daily, equivalent to the weight of 222 double-decker buses; meanwhile, around 1.39 million people in the city live below the poverty line. FOOD ANGEL has been running a food recycling and aid program since 2011, with the mission of "Waste Not, Hunger Not" producing over 20,000 free meals daily to provide timely and stable food support to those in need.

To support FOOD ANGEL's efforts, D&G Technology — following volunteer initiatives involving Hong Kong staff in 2017 and 2018—organized another corporate volunteering activity on February 12 this year. This time, the company partnered with Learning Bridge Association, a charity focused on serving neurodiverse youth and those with special learning needs, to visit FOOD ANGEL's food production center in Shatin for hands-on volunteering.
On the day of the event, D&G Technology employees teamed up with neurodiverse youth to prepare meals side by side, delivering warmth and care to those requiring food assistance. In a continuous two-and-a-half hour production effort, the volunteer team completed 6,790 meal boxes. Afterward, during the reflection session, participants savored the freshly made hot meals together, sharing their rewarding experiences.
This event held profound significance: it helped reduce food waste and contributed to aiding those in need, while also providing neurodiverse youth and those with special learning needs opportunities to engage in community activities and integrate into society. D&G Technology hopes that through such initiatives, employees will further embrace the "cherish food, avoid waste" mindset, actively promote sustainable development, and together become true "Food Savers."
